Our Lifetime Achievement Award will recognize longtime LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS activist Sean McKenna.

Our Guiding Spirit Award will celebrate veteran tour guide Joe Svehlak whose generous donation of his time and eloquence over the years has furthered the education of so many of his colleagues.

There will be a VIP cocktail reception before the ceremony starting at 6:30 pm. The Awards ceremony starts at 8:00 pm. An after-party will also be held for all nominees and attendees.

How do Nominations Work?

Suggestions for nominations were open online, beginning October 1st, 2019. They are open to all GANYC Members, both full and Provisional. The form will not track the participants, so there is no limit to the number of times a single member can propose a nominee. This suggestion process will be open for 30 days. After the survey is closed, the awards committee will meet to discuss the offerings and come up with the four nominees in each category.

How Will the Committee Choose Those Final Four?

The awards committee will take several factors into account when finalizing the list of nominees, including but not limited to: number of mentions, relevancy to the category, contribution to the category, previous wins/nominations, the likelihood of acceptance, relationship to GANYC, the benefit to the recipient, and more.

How are Winners Selected?

Voting takes place online, in December and January. As with nominations, voting was available to all members—full and provisional.
