REGISTRATION

Registration for the Zoom Meeting is a 2-step process:

  1. Start by clicking the Yes button at the top of this e-mail. This will take you to the Wild Apricot site to register.
  2. Once you complete Step One,  you will receive an e-mail confirmation with the link for registering for the Zoom Webinar. The subject of this e-mail will be "Event registration confirmed for GANYC December 2020 Membership Meeting (Online)" and come from the e-mail address Ganyc@wildapricot.org. Please make sure that this e-mail address is in your address book and if you do not receive this e-mail, check your spam folder. It is highly recommended you click the Zoom link to register in advance of the meeting.

This two-step process allows us to credit our members for attending the meetings, and also ensures the highest level of security for the meeting so we do not suffer any "Zoom Bombing" incidents.

GUEST SPEAKER

John Tebeau, Author,  “Bars, Taverns, and Dives New Yorkers Love”

John is a writer, illustrator, and former Brooklyn bartender. He’s a true topophiliac — a lover of places — who enjoys bars, taverns and dives primarily as social centers. These are what sociologist Ray Oldenburg calls “third places;” not home, and not work, but oases where you can be yourself, recharge, and flourish.

Inspired by Mr. Oldenburg (and genetics; his dad and grandpa were both barmen in Michigan) John wrote and illustrated “Bars, Taverns, and Dives New Yorkers Love” published by Rizzoli in 2018.

The book celebrates 50 special places all over the five boroughs. Places where people meet up, hang out, decompress drink, talk, laugh, argue and fall in love. Often in that order.

He lives in Brooklyn Heights with his wife The Lovely Colleen and two semi-domesticated cats rescued from the mean streets of Queens. His local is the Long Island on Atlantic Avenue, seat 14 at the bar. He has been knocked unconscious twice, touched a monkey once, and never been to Savannah, GA.

Other agenda items will include committee reports, and the President's Report.

We hope you can join us!
