GUEST SPEAKER Erik Metzger, Chair of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He will be providing a virtual tour of ASCE Civil Engineering Landmarks in Lower Manhattan. Bio: Erik Metzger is the Chair of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Metropolitan Section's History & Heritage Committee and also serves as the Secretary of National ASCE's History & Heritage Committee. Erik obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He has been actively involved with the ASCE Metropolitan Section since 2002 and became the Chair of the Metropolitan Section’s History & Heritage Committee in 2010, leading the effort to nominate Grand Central Terminal as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark for its Centennial in 2013. Erik has since given history & heritage presentations at the ASCE Conventions held in Portland, Oregon (2016) and Miami, Florida (2019). He is the Chief of Transportation Systems at the New York City office of VHB, a multidisciplinary civil engineering consulting and design firm. Erik has 20 years of experience working in the field of transportation engineering.
